The Casino de Montréal occupies the former French and Quebec pavilions of Expo 67 on Île Notre-Dame, converted for gaming in 1993. The French pavilion's stepped, cantilevered form means the floor runs over five levels rather than spreading horizontally.
It is operated directly by Loto-Québec, the provincial corporation, and is the largest casino in Canada by machine count. The island also holds the Grand Prix circuit and the Olympic rowing basin.
