Data standards
Every figure on a venue page carries a source marker. This page explains what the two markers mean, which fields they apply to, and how often each kind of data changes.
The two markers
| Marker | Meaning | Use |
|---|---|---|
| documented | Documented and stable: the value is widely recorded and does not change from month to month. | Opening years, operator names, venue type, country and city, statutory entry rules. |
| estimate | Estimate: a working value compiled for orientation that has not been confirmed against an operator or regulator filing. | Machine counts, table counts, poker tables, floor area, hotel rooms, restaurants, addresses, coordinates, hours and dress codes. |
Estimates are excluded from the structured data published for search engines. Only documented fields are emitted, so a figure marked as an estimate will not be presented to a third party as a fact about the venue.
Why floor counts move
- Machine inventories are revised monthly at large properties as units are rotated by measured revenue.
- Table counts follow demand: a pit may run twenty tables at a weekend and eight on a Tuesday morning, and published figures usually describe installed capacity rather than tables in play.
- Floor area is reported inconsistently, sometimes including circulation, bars and cash desks and sometimes not.
- Hotel inventories change with refurbishment programmes, and several resorts contain multiple hotel brands counted differently by different sources.
What is deliberately not published
The directory records no payout percentages for individual venues, no claims about which machines are loose, no ratings or scores, and no comparative recommendations. Return-to-player data is configured per machine and is not disclosed at venue level in most jurisdictions; publishing it would be invention rather than reporting.
How places are organised
Locations run three deep: country, then state or region where one is relevant to licensing, then city or district. The middle level is used only where it carries regulatory meaning — Nevada, New South Wales, Ontario — so a venue in Singapore or Monaco sits directly under its country.
Venue types describe the licence and format rather than the quality of the property: resort casino, urban casino, integrated resort, tribal casino, racino, riverboat, card room, state casino and members club. A venue can carry more than one.
Submitting a correction
Corrections to any field are welcome, and the most useful ones name the field, the venue and the source. Where a correction is supported by an operator or regulator document, the field's marker is upgraded from estimate to documented at the same time.
