MotorCity occupies the converted Wagner Baking Company building on Grand River Avenue, a 1920s industrial structure that was extended in 2007 with a hotel tower and a theatre. It is the only one of the Detroit casinos in a reused historic building.
The property runs a sportsbook, a poker room and a 1,500-seat concert venue, and it is locally owned rather than part of a national chain.
