Casinos in Detroit

2 venues recorded.

Detroit is one of very few large American cities with commercial casinos inside the downtown core, approved by city referendum in the 1990s partly in response to the Windsor casino that had opened across the river in Canada. Three properties operate under Michigan Gaming Control Board licences.

The casinos sit within walking or short driving distance of the stadium district and the convention centre, and they serve a metropolitan rather than a tourist market. Michigan later legalised online casino gaming, with the licences tied to these same operators and to tribal partners.
