Parx is the highest-grossing casino in Pennsylvania, built at the Philadelphia Park racetrack in Bensalem, twenty miles north-east of the city centre. Slot machines arrived in 2009 and table games the following year, and the property has since been extended with a sportsbook and an events venue.
The business is built on frequent local visits rather than overnight stays: there was no hotel on the site for most of its history, and the car parks, food court and loyalty programme are sized accordingly.
