SkyCity Auckland sits at the base of the Sky Tower, the 328-metre observation and telecommunications tower built as part of the same 1990s development. It is the largest of New Zealand's six casinos and the only one in the country's biggest city.

Because the Gambling Act 2003 prohibits new casino venue licences, the property faces no prospect of domestic competition. The complex includes two hotels, a convention centre and theatres, and harm-minimisation obligations are written into its licence.

Highlights

  • At the base of the 328-metre Sky Tower
  • Largest of six New Zealand casinos
  • No new casino licences permitted by law
  • Convention centre and theatres on site
