Auckland's casino sits at the base of the Sky Tower, the observation and telecommunications tower built as part of the same development in the 1990s. It is the largest of the six New Zealand casinos and the only one in the country's biggest city.

Because the Gambling Act 2003 prohibits new casino venue licences, the property has no prospect of domestic competition. Harm-minimisation obligations are part of the licence, and the complex includes hotels, a convention centre and theatres.
