The Hippodrome Casino
The Hippodrome occupies a 1900 variety theatre on the corner of Leicester Square, converted to a casino in 2012 after the building had served as a circus, a music hall, a cabaret venue and a nightclub. The restoration kept the auditorium, which now operates as a theatre above the gaming floors.
It is the busiest casino in Britain by admissions, open around the clock, with gaming spread over several levels, a poker room in the former basement and a sportsbook. Entry is free and no membership is required, which distinguishes it from the Mayfair clubs.
