Resort casino · Ledyard & Uncasville, Connecticut, United States
Mohegan Sun
Mohegan Sun opened in 1996 on the Thames River at Uncasville, nine miles from Foxwoods, and was expanded in 2001 with a second casino and a hotel tower. The architecture draws on Mohegan symbolism — the seasons, the compass directions and natural materials — rather than on a generic resort idiom.
The complex includes a 10,000-seat arena that is home to a WNBA team and hosts touring concerts, a convention centre and a retail concourse. The tribe's development company has since taken management roles at properties in Canada, Las Vegas and South Korea.
Highlights
