City of Dreams opened in 2009 opposite the Venetian and built its reputation on theatrical production rather than replica architecture: the resort commissioned a water-stage show in a purpose-built theatre and later added a hotel tower designed as a perforated block by Zaha Hadid Architects.
The casino holds a substantial VIP operation alongside its main floor, and the complex includes several hotel brands, a nightclub and a retail boulevard. Its operator is one of the six concessionaires licensed to run gaming in Macau.
