1993Opened

Luxor opened in 1993 as a thirty-storey black glass pyramid with a sphinx at the entrance and a xenon beam projected from the apex. Guest rooms line the sloping outer walls, reached by lifts that travel at an angle, which remains the property's most-discussed engineering feature.

Two conventional towers were added in the later 1990s. The resort now sits in the mid-market tier of the Strip, with a smaller table count than its neighbours, an exhibition hall used for touring shows, and a pedestrian link to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay.

Highlights

  • Pyramid structure with inclined lifts
  • Light beam projected from the apex
  • Exhibition hall for touring attractions
  • Walkways to neighbouring resorts
