2005Opened

Wynn Las Vegas opened in 2005 on the former Desert Inn golf course at the north end of the Strip, and broke with the themed-resort convention that its developer had helped establish. There is no exterior spectacle: the building is a curved bronze tower screened from the road by a landscaped hill, with the attractions placed inside.

A second tower, Encore, opened in 2008 and connects along a retail esplanade. The two gaming floors are known for high table limits, a large baccarat operation and a golf course that was removed, rebuilt and reopened. The resort carries one of the highest room rates in the city.

Highlights

  • Landscaped hill screens the resort from the Strip
  • Encore tower connected by retail esplanade
  • High table limits and large baccarat operation
  • On-site golf course behind the hotel
